Description of C arm/C-arch Protection Cover
A C-Arm Protection Cover (also known as a C-Arm Drape, X-Ray Image Intensifier Cover, or Fluoroscopy Machine Drape) is a single-use, sterile disposable barrier system designed to sheath a mobile C-arm fluoroscopy unit during surgical or interventional procedures. Its primary function is to maintain a sterile surgical field and protect sensitive imaging equipment from contamination by bodily fluids, dust, and surgical debris, while allowing the C-arm to be freely positioned.
Typically made from transparent, medical-grade plastic film (like polyethylene) or a non-woven fabric composite. It is strong, tear-resistant, and often anti-static.
Characteristics of C arm/C-arch Protection Cover
1. Creates a reliable sterile barrier, preventing microbial transfer from the non-sterile machine to the patient’s surgical site;
2. Shields the C-arm’s sensitive detector, cables, and joints from blood, saline, betadine, and bone dust;
3. Allows for rapid draping and undraping, facilitating multiple intraoperative imaging runs without delaying surgery or requiring extensive machine cleaning between shots;
4. The high-clarity, thin plastic over the image intensifier minimizes artifact interference, ensuring diagnostic-quality fluoroscopic images.
